HAWAII- A place of natural beauty

       Aloha readers! Today I will talking on the U.S state of Hawaii.
        Hawaii is an amazing and beautiful place to take a trip to. Though I haven't been to Hawaii but from stories i have heard from those who have been to Hawaii, I must say this place is a paradise. As usual, let me fill you in with some information about Hawaii.
     
        Hawaii is a large chain of Polynesia island located in The Pacific ocean more than 2000miles away from U.S.A. Hawaii comprises of eight main islands. They are (in order from northwest to southeast)

  1. Ni'ihau
  2. Kaua'i
  3. O'ahu
  4. Moloka'i
  5. Lana'i
  6. Kaho'olawe
  7. Maui
  8. Hawai'i Island or the Big Island
          The Island of Ni'ihau is privately   managed by The Robinson brothers Bruce and Keith Robinson therefore access is restricted to those who have permission from the Island owners
       
       The island of O'ahu is home to the state's capital Honolulu. Honolulu is also the biggest city in Hawaii. This island is home to about two-third of the state's population. The east side of the island is known to have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Lani Kai and Waikiki beaches are ranked among the best beaches in the world. Some places you must visit when you go to O'ahu island are U.S.S Arizona Memorial, Diamond Head crater and the Pearl Harbour.
      Due to its beauty, O'ahu has been featured in many movies and television shows. Some of the movies include Battleship, Jaws, Blue crush, Jurassic Park movies, Mighty Joe Young, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and many more. The television shows include Hawaii Five-O, Lost,The River,Last Resort, Dante's cove and many more.
   
     
The island of Kauai is the of the main Hawaiian islands. This island is the site of Waimea Canyon state park. Some amazing places to visit on the Kauai island include The Sleeping Giant, Waimea Canyon state park, Spouting horn, and many other places. The island has been featured in more than seventy Hollywood movies and television shows. Some include the musical South Pacific and Disney's animated film and television series Lilo and Stitch, Lilo and Stitch 2.
     Another popular island is the island of Maui. This island has the third highest population of the Hawaiian islands. The island has a volcanic mountain called Haleakala , which rises to more than 10,000 feet(3000 metres) above sea level and measures 5 miles from seafloor to the summit, making it one of the world tallest mountain. The big tourist spot in Maui include Hana highway, Haleakala National Path, Lao valley and Lahaina.

       The Hawai'i island or The Big island to distinguish between the island and the state. It is the largest of all the Hawaiian islands. It is the youngest of all islands. The beaches on the coast of the island have black sands. Some great tourist site on this island include Alaka falls, Hawai'i volcanoes national park which comprises of some active volcanoes, World Botanical Gardens and many more great sites.
     
The Hawaiian culture involves a traditional dance called Hula, welcoming visitors by putting Lei round their neck and on the island of Molokai, the Hawaiian music is played to welcome locals and visitors.
     
Some Hawaiian traditional foods include Poi, Laulau, Luau, etc. Am forgetting to mention the Aloha shirt. It's a sport shirt with brightly coloured tropical designs.
 
 Popular sports in Hawaii are snorkeling, windsurfing, surfing (for those who don't know how to surf, you can take surfing lesson on the island) and kite surfing.
   
 Wow I think from all this information, am moving Hawaii to the third place on my travel list.

Fun facts about Hawaii
1. The Hawaiian word “Aloha" is the one of the most commonly used words. Based on the context, Aloha can mean ‘hello',‘welcome ’, ‘love', ‘best wishes' or even ‘goodbye'.
2. The Kilauea volcano located on the big island has been erupting continuously for 30 years. Lava is pouring out of it everyday into the ocean.
3. Undersea volcanoes that erupted million years ago formed the islands of Hawaii
4. Manua Kea is the highest point in Hawaii standing 13,803 ft(4,207m) above sea level. It is the world biggest volcano and also the world tallest mountain( not the highest, because most of it is under the sea). When measured from it's oceanic base it's height is 33,100ft(10,100m)
5. About 7 million tourist visit Hawaii each year, making it one of the most   popular vacation sites in U.S.A
